Sterling Area Cub Scouts learn about St. Vincent de Paul Society

Sterling Area Cub Scouts learned about St. Vincent de Paul Society, a local non-profit , faith-based organization, and how the organization works within the community to provide food to less fortunate families through a food pantry in addition to also providing some financial aid to help families with utility, prescription and gasoline costs. Ryan Murphy, Cub Scoutmaster, invited the SVdP Society to make a presentation to the cub scouts at their meeting on January 29, 2025 at First Christian Church in Sterling. The Cub Scouts learned valuable lessons in community service and helping others regardless of their background or beliefs. Pictured in the photo (back row left to right) are Fred Marruffo, Jim Hermes, members of Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Ryan Murphy, Cub Scoutmaster, and Sterling area Cub Scouts.

SVdP 2024 Fall Fundraising Campaign a Success

We wish to thank all our donors for their generosity which contributed to the success of our 2024 Fall Fundraising Campaign. We raised $12,050.00 to be used to help those in need in our community. Through your caring and compassion, families will be fed, families will not experience utility shutoffs and individuals will be able to travel to their health appointments. SVdP is truly grateful for the continued support we receive from our donors, as it makes it possible for us to remain dedicated to our mission of helping our neighbors in need. May God bless you for your generosity!

CHRISTMAS PRAYER

Christmas night. Birth of Jesus

Lord, our Savior, To dwell with us on Earth, You came that all might see through Your Life and birth the Father’s love revealed.

As shepherds who kept watch on a most holy night, keep us in Your care, in Your shining, holy Light.

With angels who appeared, May voices join in praise as we share the joy known on the first Christmas Day.

Students At St. Mary’s School Chose SVdP As Their Christmas Project

Principle Melanie Selmi and students of St. Mary’s School blessed SVdP food pantry with 52 packages of non-perishable food and a donation of $335.00. Their donation of food will help feed those in need this holiday season and their monetary donation will purchase much-needed food to stock our pantry shelves. THANK YOU to Ms. Selmi, the students and the parents of St.Mary’s School. They know that the joy of giving brings joy back to them too, as indicated by the smiles on the faces in this photo.
